In 2021, Attorney Christopher Acklin joined the Estates and Litigation team at Herbert Machnik Law Firm in Kalamazoo, Michigan. For several years, Chris developed a rigorous deportation defense practice, representing immigrants in cases ranging from Cancellation of Removal, Special Cancellation, VAWA Cancellation, Adjustment of Status, and Political Asylum, focusing on Immigration Litigation through the Executive Office of Immigration Review ("Immigration Court"), the Board of Immigration Appeals, and federal courts. Among his many accomplishments in this area, he has successfully challenged removability findings through the Board of Immigration Appeals. Chris has also handled appeals before the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, as well as the United States Supreme Court. Chris also practices business transactional law and litigation, civil litigation, real property matters, as well as appeals before various state and federal courts and agencies in these matters.
